As of Jan. 20, the PS5 version of Sonic Superstars is on sale at Amazon for just $17.10, marking a steep discount from its usual $29.99 price tag. That’s a 43% price drop, making this one of the best prices we’ve seen since its launch in late 2023.
Sonic Superstars essentially puts a fresh spin on classic 2D Sonic gameplay while keeping the iconic high-speed platforming. You’ll race through the colorful Northstar Islands as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Amy, each with their own unique abilities that open up new paths and secrets across the game’s zones. The Chaos Emerald powers add a fun twist as well, since they’ll let you do things like swim up waterfalls or multiply on-screen for chaotic fun.
Compared to the older-gen ports on PS4 and the original Nintendo Switch, the PS5 version also shines thanks to smooth performance and vibrant visuals that help Sonic gameplay feel modern without losing the series’ old-school Sega charm.
It’s an altogether great pick for longtime fans, but it’s also approachable for younger players or newcomers thanks to its polished design and optional local co-op for up to four players.
